Summer vibes and Winter Waves with Surf Guide Algarve
After a very long winter the sun finally finds her spot in the sky. Straight away the beaches look like summer. Lucky for the surf guide algarve crew, the waves are still in winter mode. Tricky forecasts require a lot of local knowledge, good timing and a little bit of luck. Sharing the good vibes with some of our VIP guests at praia Castelejo and Beliche, enjoy the full story!
Early birds catching the waves
There can only be one the first one out, and that often is us. Paddling out in an empty lineup has something magical. Some days its just a matter of getting our waves before the crowds. Beliche is one of the more busy and obvious spots. Whenever we surf here it better be early. Other days its because of tides and wind, like the session in Castelejo. We love the morning surfs, how about you?
Castelejo not as easy as it looks
West coast Portugal is powerful. Swell just hitting the coastline straight and you will be surprised how solid the surf can feel down here. Tide in our favour and the sun shining we pack all our stuff and go for a nice family beach adventure. Castelejo has the best papers and happens to be right in our backyard. Overhead waves but luckily with a nice channel to get out. Next morning the swell drops a lot but the offshore wind kicks in. Starting off in perfect waves while the wind wakes up with the rest of the world. Empty lineup, perfect waves, even if its not for the whole morning, they can not take this away from us.
