Surf Guide Algarve thinking out of the box and scoring empty waves
Compared to other surf destinations, the Algarve is a real tricky one. Different from most other places we have waves year round. As been mentioned before, with an almost island style setup we have surf almost every day of the year. At the same time, it is really hard to know where to go at what time. Massive tides, changing sandbanks, swell directions all come into play next to the ‘normal variables‘- Wind, swell size, period etc. Most surfers go on the search themselves. Most of the time all ending up at the more obvious places, what is not a problem if you dont mind sharing your waves. Surf Guide Algarve is here to think out of the box for you and score empty waves. Enjoy the story.
South, West and something in between
Once the wind turns east you can see some real fireworks in our region, east means offshore on the west coast. Meanwhile there is a big swell coming in as well. Surf Guide Algarve times it perfect and scores a super fun session with one of the best waves we can ever think off. A fun size A frame that keeps going for ever both sides.
The next day we surf some very powerful waves at Beliche and when the tide gets too low we relocate to Mareta. Once in a while its good to just go completely for broke. A double session in the arms, a big stairs and many waves in the legs. Stoked and tired. Then again, never to tired for a little beach cleanup. Big swell brings waves but also a lot of plastic. Time to clean it up!
Think out of the box
Even if Surf Guide Algarve promotes to share the stoke, preferably with as little people as possible. For the most part we try to hit spots on different times than the rest or just go to places others do not even think off. Barranco today is a pure gift from mother nature. No one out and close to perfect waves all morning. Hit us up with a pm if you want to join us with one of our private surf sessions!
