Surf Carrapateira
Carrapateira is located in the middle of the national park Costa Vincentina. The little town looks very traditional and with the small white houses with red roofs, the Portuguese windmill and beautiful church it’s for sure a must see after your surf at one of the two beaches Amado and Bordeira.
General information
Carrapateira has a few bars/restaurants for a nice pre-surf coffee or a post surf beer. There’s also a surfshop with all that you need and a very stoked owner who’s always keen for a chat. (Note; it’s closed if the waves are on or out of season.) Don’t expect to much from this little village, next to the fact its growing together with the rest of the Algarve, there’s a small Supermarket but no Gas to be found here.
When to surf Carrapateira
Located on the west-coast surf can be found all year. Bordeira is a true swell-magnet and is usually the go-to spot in summer if the rest of the beaches are to small. Amado has a little more protection from the dominant North wind and picks up a little less swell.
