Chasing Unicorns with Surf Guide Algarve on the South Coast
Portugal is famous for her nice weather and under the surf population, good and consistent waves. Obviously we have seasons too, where summer is hotter but less good for waves. Winter is when the waves often get bigger *remember that bigger not always means better. Right now it feels like it is summer and winter combined. Powerful winter swells wrapping around the coast creating waves for all levels of surfers. At the same time the sun is shining and it truly feels a bit like summer. Chasing Unicorns with Surf Guide Algarve on the south coast, enjoy the full story.

South Coast lights up
Whenever the waves get too big for most surfers, the swell wraps around Sagres and creates surf on the South Coast. Pair that with a tiny breeze from the north *offshore on the south, and you get perfect conditions. If you know where to go at what time of course. Surf guide algarve takes care of that. Pictures used in this story are from three sessions, Mareta, Zavial and Porto de Mos, the last two in one morning.

The best waves for your level
As been mentioned before, it is critical to know your level of surfing. Maybe you can lie to yourself and you can also pretend you are an epic surfer to your girl or boyfriend but… Mother ocean will not fall for that. Overall you can make or break your own surfing holiday by misjudging the conditions in the water. Please make sure you know what to expect and are ready for these kind of conditions. Obviously the sea is the biggest playground possible, but one that deserves a lot of respect and can be ultra dangerous too! In essence surf guide algarve always likes to bring new guests to a more mellow spot first. First to see how the new guest really surfs and second, small waves are just a lot of fun too!
