Offshore for days
As been mentioned before, the corner of the Algarve where we live almost works like an island. In theory we always have offshore somewhere. Swell can be a little challenging, especially in summer. Offshore with no waves is worth not much when you are a surfer. Luckily there is no shortage of swell and surf guide algarve just picks the very best places to score the most fun waves possible. South Coast action on Cabanas Velhas, followed up by some more open ocean swell on the West-Coast.
Take that for inspiration
People often say a picture tells more than a thousand words. Yet if it comes down to surf photos I kind of disagree. Too often the wave looks too easy. ‘I can do that‘ – type of thoughts. Only if you are there in the water that moment you know the full story. Shifting peaks, current, offshore wind, freak sets, other hungry surfers, just to name a couple of things you can not see on the photo. Our guest, now 55 years young, picks up surfing quite late but falls in love head over heels. Fast forward about 8 years and here is the result. Take that for inspiration on the last day of the year.
