Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas with Surf Guide Algarve
Meanwhile the Christmas decorations shine bright in Vila do Bispo. In essence a festive period on its own. The feeling of joy is felt most by the surfers in the region. To sum up, there is offshore for days in a row, pretty perfect size swells and not a whole lot of crew around. In this edition of the blog Surf Guide Algarve shares some moving salt water with one lucky surfer girl and a VIP. Its really beginning to look a lot like Christmas, enjoy the full story.
Small and powerful versus Big and slow
As been mentioned before, a small wave can be super powerful too. Beliche for example can create waves shoulder high that will break your surfboard without a problem. Jacking up from deep water unloading on a shallow sand bar and creating little air pockets most surfers dream of. Barrels. Yet not the scary west-coast version. If there is a place in the Algarve where you can think of riding your first tubes, i recon Beliche is a very good beach to do so. Tide, wind and swell just right, we already score a couple before the sun is up!
Empty Point Break action
Opposite to small and powerful is big and weak? Although a bigger wave is hard to be called weak, the wave we surf the next day is 100% slower. Timing is a little easier because of the point break set up. Add the fact that the Surf Guide Algarve crew is the only one in the water and you have a perfect session. Arguably the longest waves our region has to offer with not a single soul on the beach.
