Timing is everything Surfing Tonel in Sagres on the end of the world with Surf Guide Algarve
Since Tonel in Sagres is one of the most famous and easy beaches to acces, we do not surf it very often. Surf Guide Algarve likes to think a little bit outside the box and we prefer empty waves if possible. From time to time its nice to change things up do. There is just something magical surfing on the end of the world. Surrounded by cliffs, the fortress and the lighthouse in the distance. Altogether an absolute epic set-up, especially when the waves are nice. Before the rest of the world wakes up we score a super fun session. Timing is everything, enjoy the full story.
Sharing the Good vibes
Whenever we driving back our guest mentions ‘everyone seems to be so nice in the water, is it always like that?‘ After a short silence I say ‘no, not really…‘ To sum up, often times there are just too many surfers for too little waves. People are in each others way and often not even on purpose ruin other peoples waves. Altogether destroying the good vibes.
As been mentioned before, today the atmosphere in the line-up is perfect. In the first place we surf alone, and later we are joined by a small crew of friends and other people we know. Waver are shared, good moves rewarded, surf how it should be.
One more wave
Finally it is time for the last wave. At times someone says these magic words and the ocean goes silent for half an hour. Occasionally that waves just presents itself. A wave so good, its perfect to go in on. Today I finish the session like that. Two backside snaps and the rest of the wave to belly surf to the camera on the beach. Quickly I change my board for the camera and shoot some pictures for the blog. Big thanks to Giancarlos for cleaning the Surf Guide Algarve cam, no more spots on the photos!
