Surf Guide Algarve hunting for barrels in the fog
Occasionally we get a message with the question if there are any waves in summer. The question is short and easy, yes. On this side of Europe, in the most south west tip of the Algarve we simply catch all the swell possible. Overall there are really no days the ocean goes completely flat. Obviously there are more small days. Days where a bigger board will catch you more waves and possibly more fun. Today we go hunting for some smaller waves in the fog with a super fun Surf Guide Algarve crew. On the way home we get creative and spot a whole lot of barrels too!
What is your favourite surfboard
As long as you can catch waves on it you got the right board. Usually bigger boards are a little harder to paddle out, but a lot easier to catch waves on. Since the surf guide is surfing every day he gets away with his toothpick even in pretty small surf. One of our guests makes sure he will get the most waves today and brings a big foamy. Where the other surfgirl is on her 6’8 midlength surfboard. By and large the contrast between these three boards cant be bigger, yet we all scoring fun waves!
Stay safe!
Between the many reasons to get a surf guide, the reason you want to be safe is possibly the biggest one. Obviously you do not know the region, local rips, tides, rocks and other possible dangers. Surf Guide Algarve will do his best to get you to the best beach for your surf level and explain all the local hazards. Also important to protect yourself against the cold and the sun! A good wetsuit will make your surf session so much better. Sunblock against the sun, and if you surf a lot its also wise to protect your ears.
