Surf Guide Algarve sharing the Stokes in small perfect Beliche, the American way
In order to get the full Portugal experience there are a couple of things you need to put on your wish list. In the first place you need to eat a Pastel da Nata. Secondly figure out when and where you can surf. Lastly, eat sardines. Or more Pastel da Nata, if you do not dig fish, in which case you came to the wrong country. Today we have two American brothers on the Surf Guide Algarve experience. Strong, young dudes with plenty of surf experience. Although it has been a year they had their feet on the wax, the feeling comes back very quick. Armed with a malibu and midlength surfboard we sharing the stokes in small perfect Beliche.
No one out until...
As can be seen on the pictures, there is no one out when we make our way down the 35 meter high stairs from Beliche. Knowing exactly where to go at what time is key. Today it comes down especially on the timing. Beliche is one of the most popular beaches in the Algarve. For that reason it gets very busy on a day like today. You can see why, everyone likes these kind of waves. Happy we got them for ourselves for a good part of the session.
Its our secret
Even though I am easily recognisable it is always the aim to stay a little bit unnoticed. Overall this works really well. Either we surf by ourselves or we blend in with the other surfers in the water. Different from coaches and surf instructors our ‘work‘ is basically over when we enter the lineup. Often times we like to shoot a couple of pictures of the session. With the intention to get some footage for the website, the anti-social media and as a little extra for our Surf Guide Algarve guests. To be sure we do not spoil our own little secrets where we go, the pictures that go on the Instagram are never recognisable for most people. Despite the fact that the nicest pictures usually have a nice backdrop… Luckily we can share them here with you. *generally the blog comes out a few days after the session.
