Like walking into a surf movie, Surf Guide Algarve session at Zavial
Whenever there are new Surf Guide Algarve guests joining the adventure it is always a little exciting. In any case we always try to find some more friendly waves to test out the surfing level. In the second place its nice to get used to the Portuguese waters in a more relaxed setting. Todays guests are from a region not shy from good waves. Living in Bordeaux and a short drive away from a couple of the best spots of Europe these guys know their way around some more heavy water. Almost perfect surf
Obviously the perfect surf session is a little different for every surfer. Strongly depending on if you want to get barrels or walk to the nose. Secondly if you like small or big waves. One thing is for sure, no matter what type of surfer you are, you will like the waves in Zavial today. While the West-Coast of Portugal is all onshore we are hiding just around the corner on the South coast. With offshore wind. Shoulder high waves wrapping around the peninsula creating fairly easy but punchy waves. From beginner to pro
Occasionally you will see a real pro surfer paddle out. While most good guys seem to stick around Ericeira and Peniche, obviously the waves here are good enough to train. One dude comes paddling out with a huge Quicksilver logo on the nose of his surfboard. After a few seconds it is clear he did not put that on for fashion, he absolutely rips! In the meantime a local surf school just starts the surf lesson in the white water. Can you think of another sport where you can mix absolute beginners with professionals like that? Imagine sharing the racetrack with Verstappen in your first go-kart experience! Or kick a ball around on the same field as Ronaldo? Surfing is, and always be a little different- and maybe that is also why we love it so much.
