Very Big birthday presents for Surf Guide Algarve
As soon as you hit a certain age, its not so much fun to add another year. At least, that is how I see it. Different from our Princess, who turns 3 at the same day. For that reason we decide to celebrate her birthday and just make sure mr. Surf Guide Algarve – I – have a good surf. In reality it all goes a little different. The dude we are guiding today is part of the little surprise and when we get out of the water there is a crew of our friends on the beach celebrating both our birthdays. As well as our friend Massimo, with his camera. The waves, our friends all together the biggest presents one can ever wish for.
Be careful what you wish for
Although as a surf guide you get to surf every day, it is very rare you can push your own limits in the waves. Above all, it is the most important to keep you safe and happy. Given that its my birthday our guest tells me to go wherever I want to go, as long as he will be safe. Without a doubt the waves we surf are bigger than we normally surf, but on a left hand point break. Resulting in a lot safer take-off zone. Offshore wind, a dropping tide and a rising swell forces us to go in after about 1,1/2 hour of surfing.
Big Presents
The light shining from the land onto the ocean. Resulting zero sight from what is happening on the beach. A real surprise to find the whole crew there when we get in. Stoked to see Massimo with his camera I turn back around for ‘one more crazy one‘. Punta Ruiva also has a beach break section, or inside. Waves with great power and less easy take off spots. But incredible waves nevertheless. To repeat, the swell was already pretty big, getting bigger. Staying in position or even knowing where to sit was a real challenge. Honestly I did not get the wave I was hoping for, yet I got the biggest presents I can ever dream off.
