70 years of stoke combined surfing Cabanas Velhas with Surf Guide Algarve and friends.
A header needs to be short and catchy. Not this one do. There was no way one could make a good start of this article, altogether there is simply too much happening. Where to move on, after that shaky start. The perfect glassy waves? Maybe the incredible colour combinations mother ocean has in store for us today? Or maybe the 70 year old shredding American Surf Guide Algarve guest we have on our team today. Lets just begin at the beginning. Its Friday, Surf Guide Algarve is out for a playful surf at Cabanas Velhas. A few true friends in the line-up and we bring two new friends. One from Texas and the other from Sydney. The stoke level is at an all time high, certainly this shows in the pictures.
The ocean, what a special place
Next to the fact that without the oceans there would be no life on this planet. No life that I can think of living without her close to me. ‘‘Appartment with seaview‘‘ double the price as the one facing the valley, aditionally you need to stand on your toes and look trough the window of the toilet to actually see it, but that was not listed in the advert. For many the ocean gives a feeling of freedom, nature and a good place to just ‘let go‘. From whatever that may be. Surfers try to take it one step further, searching for a piece of unbroken ocean energy to stand up on. But deep back in the core of surfing it all comes down to the same thing.
*I think.
Do the right thing
Cabanas Velhas has a few things you really have to know when you want to surf it. One of the reasons why you hire a Surf Guide is obviously that he or she! can tell you that at the moment on the spot. This beach has a reef that needs your awareness at all times when you surf it. A nice thing from the reef is that the right-hand wave breaks pretty much always from more or less the same spot, as a result, our friend calls it ‘Bali type of waves‘ Here is our buddy on another one of those. Just before he paddled out he says ‘Today is my day bro‘ For sure I am going to use those same words tomorrow.
