Surfing at Barranco, always an adventure with Surf Guide Algarve
Where we surfing today? The swell is still there but it seems like we have a little gab in monster swells. It would be nice to see how the banks at Barranco look like. With all the big swells came some rain too, what means the road towards the surf spot is a nightmare. So only if the waves are very good this adventure is worth it. Lucky we are armed with a rental car that can handle some bumps. If you read this and you want to go after seeing the pictures. The road really is terrible. But the waves are good, very good. The Surf Guide Algarve crew arrives first and we get an incredible session.
Barrels on your mind
Most probably the highlight of surifng, the barrel. It has a number of different names, but it all comes down to the same thing. When you are in the tube, barrel or greenroom– however you like to call it, time slows down. It is no short of magic to be surrounded by moving salt water. The vision you get is often very short and more often than not ends with a lot of water shoved up your nose. Wipe-out! A lot of time people email asking if it is possible to go search for user friendly barrels. The thing is, you need to see and grab the opportunity once its there. There are a few spots that tend to barrel a little more often than others, Beliche to name one. But at the right place at the right time, even Barranco will throw a nice tube. Here is the Surf Guide showing off.
Surf photos
Did you see that wave dude?! Yeah man, I got it on camera… One of the Surf Guide guests picked up the camera while the Surf Guide was hunting for barrels. Once the waves got a little more mellow it is his time to shoot a few shots of the guests.
Lefts, rights, barrels and burgers. It is all here today dat Barranco beach. We surf our brains out and the bad road is long forgotten.
Until it is time to go home. Stoke level trough the roof and empty bellies make the way back seem a lot less of a problem. Thanks for reading!
