Perfect waves at Castelejo with Surf Guide Algarve
For waves you need wind. And for a good surf session its best to have no wind, or maybe a touch of offshore. This may sound a little weird for a non-surfing reader, but it is the way it is. When the arrows on the forecast starting to point the good direction, all surfers are happy. Obviously you need more than just offshore. In summer it is offshore for weeks on the south coast and not a single wave is ridden. We are blessed with perfect sized waves at Castelejo. The first day with some of our Surf Guide Algarve VIP crew and the second day just with some friends. Enjoy the pictures.
Play it cool
A few minutes before take off I receive a message. Dude, we are a few minutes late, we have ice on our window and no idea how to get it off. This is strange for two reasons. The strangest thing is that this message is send from a German duo, and in the history of Surf Guide Algarve this is the first German to be late. Obviously the second strange thing is the ice, but who cares when the waves are on fire.
The waves are calling
Every surfer knows the feeling, and I am now not talking about those few magic seconds sliding down a piece of salt water. I am talking about the fear of missing out, FOMO. We have an incredible session at Castelejo and we surf our breans out. That afternoon we celebrate the princess her Birthday with some friends. *Almost all surfers too, all in good spirits from the good conditions. The day after it is time for a layday. The house is an absolute mess, the shoulders are sore, time for a break. Or not… While I am changing the music from techno back to hiphop to start cleaning the second bathroom, I receive a message. Dude, Castelejo is looking amazing and there is no one out! The cleaning can wait.
