Never enough empty waves with Surf Guide Algarve
Travelling for thousands of miles, *we measure in km but it sounds better like this. Swell coming from really far away. Most of them end up against a piece of rock or sand bar without even being recognised as a wave. The lucky few that do make it to a surf beach, in daytime, can possibly change someones day, week or even holiday. You remember that one wave?!
Its always that one wave that gets talked about. While you probably catch a ton more in a surf session. Surf Guide Algarve is always searching for the best waves for our guests. And there can never be enough empty waves right? -Or left…
Bigger is not always better
Especially inexperienced surfers get really excited when they see big swell on the forecast. But is bigger always better? Obviously when you see a pro dude pull in a double overhead drainer in some tropical place it all looks fun and games. But when the Algarve gets that steroids size you better call the Surf Guide Algarve crew to find some protected spots. We take you to the best waves for your level. If you are ready for some more umph, that is where we go.
The rise of the Midlength Surfboard
All the big brands have a midlength model out. You could call it what you want, but for many surfers these boards really work. The longer outline helps you to catch the wave a lot easier than a regular shortboard. But because of the performance outline you can still make some serious turns *and duckdive the thing. Two of our current guests are both on a different model. A firewire Beyond the Seaside and a Channel Islands CI MID. Both beautiful pieces of surf craft that amaze me time after time again. The guys just seem to catch the wave with so much ease its almost unfair.
