Full day Longboard surfing with Surf Guide Algarve
It looks like longboarding is making a big comeback. A few years ago you hardly saw any single fins on the surfspots. Now every second car has a 9ft plus log strapped on the roof. As a result of this the Surf Guide Algarve crew gets more and more requests from people who like to come longboarding. Although it is not our speciality, it for sure is a lot of fun, so lets go! We roll with our VIP South African guest in his Volkswagen T2 hippie/surf van. And today we share some slower moving waves with the most stoked Spanish surfer you will ever come across. He drives 2 1/2 hour *5 hours in total, to surf one day in the Algarve. No wonder he wants to make sure he is on the right spot at the right time.
Only one out
When we get to the beach, the line up is empty. There is a pretty thick fog and a light onshore. The spanish loosing it. “If this would be the surf in spain there would be at least 50 people in that line up right now‘‘. There is a very easy channel and a consistent right hander that opens nice.
Full day, two sessions- two spots
Most days we pick the best time of the day for a nice long surf session and thats it. But for someone who drives 5 hours to get a surf in, we are happy to make an exception. The second surf we will need to share the waves with a few others do…
That is oke. For a second surf on a longboard there are still plenty of fun waves. The vibe in the water is good and it is a perfect second session.
