Last Big day Before Summer in Sagres Tonel with Surf Guide Algarve

You think? It just might. Summer is here. The ice cream shops doing great business. The Supermarket sells more bbq materials than ever before. And the surf is absolutely pumping. Wait what? Summer is not really known for big surf. But the month May does whatever she wants. Today the wind is in our favour for what might be one of the last Big days before the real summer hits the Algarve. Our Surf Guide adventure takes us to Sagres where we find amazing waves and hardly any people in Tonel.

Hard work pays off

There is something like a channel at Tonel. But to be honest, its not working great. One time I get caught inside so bad that I duck dive for about 10 minutes and eventually walk around to the channel. (and I can duckdive pretty ok). If the waves get bigger the surf gets more heavy. So does the paddle. But hard work pays off. If you are on the right spot you can get amazing rides. (and lefts.)

If you look very closely you see a seagull on the right side on top of the wave, just to give a better perspective on the size. Some proper big ones rolling trough, no takers on this one

If you know what you are doing it does not matter what type of craft you use. Huge respect for this dude always charging on his Sup, never snaking or wave-hogging and always stoked and in for a chat on the beach. Sharing the Stoke!
